Hello, my name is Ian and I was born and raised in a small town called Barry in South Wales, Great Britain. I currently reside in Cuenca, Ecuador. Cuenca has been my home for more than 22 years, so Spanish has become my second language. I am a small business owner and I teach English in my spare time to students all over Latin America and Turkey. In my free time I love to read and listen to podcasts, I also like to cycle, play my acoustic guitar, and dance salsa. Music has always been a big love of mine, so I listen daily to a variety of genres, but mostly classic rock and Salsa. Growing up in Britain, I saw many concerts and frequented large music events, including Glastonbury, Reading, and Donington. In Ecuador, I have been to many music events to hear Salsa and other Latin rhythms, such as Bachata, Bossa Nova, and Latin Rock, etc. Other interests of mine, include travel and fitness, so I try to eat nutritious food, cycle, and walk my friend's dog frequently. I have traveled to various countries around the world, including India, Thailand, Cambodia, Australia, and Peru. I am planning a trip to Brazil next year, and was thinking of riding there on a motorcycle from Ecuador, but let's see! So what makes me a good candidate for this position? Well, firstly, I teach English online, and as mentioned above, I teach students at both individual and group level. I have taught at various universities and private institutes alike. I am used to not only assisting students with their academic requirements, but also with personal issues that may be affecting their academic performance. I have a background in Psychology, I have done various forms of charity work, and worked for a fairly well-known foundation in London.
