Hi! My name is Romy and I’m from Lima, Peru. I moved to Syracuse, NY when I was 19 to pursue a double major in Photography and Management at Syracuse University. I currently live in Brooklyn, NY, and have recently decided to be a Freelancer! Growing up, I had unique and unconventional parents. My father was 30 years older than my mother! This age difference prompted my mother to take many photographs of my father and me, so I could keep all those memories in the future. This was my first introduction to photography and slowly became my favorite art form. Combining writing with my photographs, became incredibly healing and helped me understand who I was and who I was becoming. In the near future, my goal is to start working with children and adults and be able to help them heal in the same way art helped me. I’m currently applying to Grad School to pursue a Master’s Degree in Art Therapy and be able to fulfill this goal.
