My name is Joan nyaberi. I started my career in Garfield in 2007 as a Kindergarten teacher, computer teacher and later became the District Anti-Bullying Coordinator/School Counselor. I received my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education/Art, Masters in Counseling . I am a volunteer Disaster Response Crisis Counselor for the state of New Jersey where we go out and provide psychological first aid to those who have experienced a disaster or trauma in their life. I am passionate about helping students reach their full academic, social and emotional potential. My philosophy is student-centered and solution focused.I also believe in a comprehensive counseling program that addresses the academic, career and personal/social development of all students. I love being a school counselor and everyday I feel thankful to have the opportunity to work with you and your children.
