Per minuteI am Professor Ganiyu Ishola Balogun, a professor of Nuclear Engineering and currently Head of Nuclear Science and Technology Section of the Centre for Energy Research and Training, Ahmadu Bello University/Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission, at the Presidency. I hold PhD in Nuclear Engineering and DIC Nuclear Power from the prestigious Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine, London. A dedicated researcher and lecturer, I became the first Nigerian Professor of Nuclear Engineering in 2008 at the Ahmadu Bello University. Besides being the first Professor of nuclear engineering, other firsts associated with me include being the first to lead a team of Nigerians to operate a nuclear reactor and the first Reactor Manager of the only nuclear reactor in the country, Nigeria Research Reactor - 1 (NIRR-1), a facility that was Commissioned in 2004. I'm Visiting Professor to universities not only within Nigeria but also internationally. I am in fact a Fellow of the Ghana Nuclear Society. My main interest is in Nuclear Reactor Design and Analysis and I'm widely published in both local and international academic journals of repute in Nuclear Science and Engineering as well as physics. I am in my element teaching Nuclear reactor physics, classical elctrodynamics and advanced quantum mechanics, especially at post graduate level. I'm is a computer programmer. I'm a resource person and adviser to the Federal Government of Nigeria on nuclear matters.
