Derick A.

Derick was born and raised in Martin, South Carolina which is on the very outskirts of Allendale County associated with the University Of South Carolina Salkehatchie. He is a twin and has two older siblings who were raised by their mother who still resides in Martin South Carolina with her husband Leroy. Derick is the father to 2 beautiful sons and 1 gorgeous daughter. Derick joined the United States Army at the tender age of 17 and served eight (8) years as a Logistics and Supply Technician (MOS92Y). During Derick’s tenure in the United States Army, he achieved the rank of Sergeant (E-5) and a host of awards over the course of his military career which include: the global war on terrorism, army commendation medal, army service ribbon, national defense service medal, army good conduct medal, Iraq campaign medal, overseas service medal, and the expeditionary medal. He also deployed twice overseas supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation New Dawn by providing logistical support for the Army’s route clearance missions and units in the Iraqi war zone. After departing the United States Army in 2008, Derick worked as a Department of the Army Defense Civilian for over three (3) years, providing logistical support to the company that provided linguists to the units of the men and women defending our great country. He has also received certifications in Lean Six Sigma, Green Belt (2009), ISO 9001:2008 (2009), Program Management Professional (2011), Associates of Science in Business Admin(2011), Program Management Leadership (2013) Bachelor of Science I Supply Chain Management (2016), and Legal Studies (2019) from colleges such as Colorado Technical University (CTU) and Villanova University. After an 8-year term in the United States Army, 2 tours to the Iraqi Theatre, and 4 (four) years as a Department of Defense Contractor, all served overseas between Germany and Iraq. Derick moved back to South Carolina, where life itself had different plans than what he had planned. Through tests, trials, and tribulations birth the book "Simply" in which Derick wrote after-life, itself gave him the wisdom needed to smartly put one foot in front of the other daily. Not only that, but assists others daily in life, in being that beacon, that lighthouse that is so desired when one is lost, and can't find their way.
