Basically, I am here because I am interested in people who are very different from me. Because if friendship is friendship, it connects across distance, skin colour, age, genders and education. I am an educated woman with humane values, near the end of a fulfilling career. I have lived a publicly engaged life as a researcher, raised two daughters, and built a home on the rock of human warmth.
