I enjoy ideas for their own sake ..how things work, unexpected connections between fields, good writing, puzzles. And I like directness: when someone tells me plainly what they're actually trying to do, I can skip the guessing and get to something useful, faster. What makes a conversation good, I think, is less about topic and more about the exchange itself.
